Number of participants: 6–11 people
Time: 2,5 h, price: €129 per person

This round trip sets out from Keilaniemi in Espoo, known as the headquarters of many international corporations. Keilaniemi can easily be reached by metro from Helsinki city centre.
Our action-packed boat trip accompanied by entertaining tales presents the captivating contrasts of Finland’s Capital Region, known not only for its modern architecture and metropolitan atmosphere but also for its historic buildings and the natural beauty of its island landscapes.
Just after the high-rises of Keilaniemi, we come across the romantic 19th-century Villa Sinebrychoff, then glide past luxurious beach houses from the modern period, such as the spectacular villa with terraces belonging to the legendary owner of the Marimekko design house, Kirsti Paakkanen (1929–2021).
Surrounded by surfboards and sailing boats, we make our way to the island of Iso Vasikkasaari, where what is probably the oddest building on the archipelago looks down on the sea: a temple to Poseidon. As we sail through Espoo’s loveliest waterway, the Suino strait, the banks seem so close to the boat that you could almost reach out and touch them.
Next, we navigate the Suvisaaristo archipelago in the west of Espoo, passing numerous picturesque wooden houses and historically significant buildings while finding out interesting facts about the history of the islands and the everyday lives of their inhabitants.
We pass the idyllic island of Pentala before stopping at one of the city islands devoted to recreation (where we land depends on the weather). There, you have time for a short walk in the countryside or just to relax in the fresh sea air. These islands are popular with local day trippers.
The route back to Keilaniemi offers views of the barren cliffs of the outer islands in the archipelago. The impressive silhouette of Helsinki appears on the horizon. Cast a glance out onto the open sea – isn’t that the Tallinn TV tower in the distance?
Leaves from: Keilasatama 5, 02150 ESPOO (take the metro from Helsinki to the Keilaniemi station; when you go out, turn right and walk about 300 m past the roundabout to the marina entrance). This excursion works well in combination with a visit to the “garden city” of Tapiola, just a short walk from Keilaniemi at the leafy green heart of Espoo.
Plenty of spaces are available for parking cars and bicycles.
